One of the Challenges of Racing - A Blown out Head Sail

South Grenada Regatta 2011

Caribbean Regattas

Many of the Caribbean Regattas attract Sailing Yachts from all over the Caribbean and are becomming very competative. In 2011 Boxxer competed in several of these Regattas and her new solar pannels that Nick constructed the frame for stood up really well even in the gale force winds. Unfortunately our kevlar head sail didn't hold up as well and it shattered in the heavy winds at the top end of Grenada during the Around Grenada Race.
We were much more fortunate in the South Grenada Regatta where we placed 2nd overall in the Regatta and took first place in the "12 Degree Cup" race. Boxxer was also the first yacht across the finish line in the last race of the Regatta where all the competitors battled the gale force winds, but unfortunately we were time corrected out to 2nd place. All in all it was a great Regatta with fabulous parties after each day of racing. We are now looking forward to next years Regatta with Boxxer's new head sail.
